We arrived at Kai Studios just a little bit after midnight. We found a parking space on the block and made our way into the venue. It was a large room with high ceilings and the walls were covered in white curtains, floor to ceiling. There was also a little balcony area overlooking the large room. It felt like a swanky Manhattan club in the heart of Brooklyn.

First things first, I had to head over to the bar for a drink. The drinks were mixed well ... I had a vodka and cranberry that set off the night for me. The bar service was easy accessible with one small bar on either side of the room and a large bar in the back. The music was on point ... DJs Sounds4Life, Young Star and Jugglers played all the Soca and Reggae hits. Now, for some reason I was reminded of a high school party ... were the lights too bright? The ceilings too high? Everyone crowded around the sides of the room, leaving the center empty. And a real shame too, as this was a good looking crowd, with everyone looking very sexy stepping out in their nicest fete apparel.

Natalie herself looked very lovely as she worked the room accepting many birthday wishes.

We quickly got into the swing of things, moving from group to group, saying hello to everyone. This fete was definitely the one to attend for the Brooklyn Soca fete crowd. Even though there was a steady stream of people coming in, the crowd never made it out into the middle of the dance floor area. I soon found myself taking small wines in different corners of the room ... heh, when in Rome, right! smile

A couple of hours into the fete, two sexy women came out and danced on the little stages set up in the middle of the room. The Asian dancer had a little techno flow happening, while the Trini ... pure waist, waist and more waist!! But apart from people taking photos of the dancers, this didn't seem to encourage the crowd to venture out from the little social scene they had created.

Birth had a great venue, good music and nice people. But the vibe was just missing ... still scratching my head to figure out why?

Until the next one guys,
Rasta Barbie and Text-a-holic Juice!
